My New Neighbor

Episode 11

The huge man I bumped into turned out to be the most ruthless man I have ever seen and met. He was as huge as “The Mountain” in Game of Thrones and he was using his size so well for the evil organisation.

He was clutching the 8 knives tightly and making a move that suggested that he was going to attack me anytime soon.

“Hold her down. Don’t let her escape. Kill her if it’s possible”, I heard Fred screaming from afar with his own cutlass in his hands.

“Of course, boss”, the huge guy responded while growling like a wounded animal.

I made an effort to stand up and continue my running, but the next thing I experienced was a very severe kick to my tummy. I puked immediately, vomiting a blood substance out of my mouth.

The huge man grinned at his little achievement of kicking me. I could see the smirk on his face. “You think you’re going to escape”, he asked me without expecting an answer. I affirmed his thought by spitting on his face.

This infuriated him so badly that he gave me another wild kick and another and another until his leg got weary. I was now groaning in pain and I vomited more blood.

Fred hasn’t got to where we were and I knew that it’s only a matter of few minutes before he gets to us with his wide cutlass and him getting to meet us there means my death warrant has been sealed and confirmed.

The man pounced on me immediately, making the strangest and unluckiest decision of his life. The exact moment he pounced on me was exactly the same time I drew the knife I was hiding out and he jumped right on it.

The knife pierced his flesh and went straight into his heart, he fell on me with full force. He was as heavy as a dead elephant and I would have passed out under him if I had wasted any minute when I was pushing him off me.

I was still searching frantically for his knives when I saw Fred. He was just few away from me and he seems not to have seen his dead colleague.

I picked the two knives I saw and dashed deeper into the forest.

Fred eventually saw his dead colleague and he screamed his lungs out. It seems like I have killed the biggest of them all. God saved my life at that moment because his cutlass missed my head with few inches. He threw it at me when he saw the dead man.

I thanked God and I kept on running into the forest. I was trying to find my way back to the road again but it seems like I was just going on an exasperating journey.

I had lost sight of Fred and his men and the only thing I was afraid off at that time was wild animals.

I haven’t had any food since evening and I’ve been running around on empty stomach and I knew that I’m gonna collapse in the next few minutes.

I was on the verge of collapsing when I noticed a small idle hut a few metres away from me.

The hut I sighted abated my weariness immediately.

There was red light emanating from the hut which suggest that there is a human being inside the hut. I quickened my pace and got to the hut in few minutes.

I couldn’t help but gawk at the sight that welcomed me.

The interior of the hut looks so much like a shrine. There was calabash, white feathers, black dried blood and animals skulls hanged in every angle of the shrine and there was a huge fire at the center

I was still gawking at the traditional acand all when an averagely old man emerged from another entrance that led to the hut. I got scared at first but I relaxed after seeing the gentle face of the man. “He should help me after all”, I whispered to myself.

Though the man’s face looked gentle and all, his appearance was traditional.

I was right about his character. He noticed the weariness on my face and how dusty my legs was.

He gave me a water to wash my feet immediately and he served me with a sumptuous meal than contained bush meat without asking me anything.”I am going to explain myself after am done with this meal”, I said to myself.

The man exited the hut again and came back when I was almost done with the meal.

“Are you not the girl Fred and Bayo has been looking for ?”, the man asked me without paying much attention to me. I got choked by the morsel of food I was eating immediately.
