My New Neighbor

Episode 14

They all got me entrapped in the hut and they all got me trapped inside the hut with their large number. Despite their large number, non of them noticed that there was an entrance at the back of the hut. All their attentions was on me.

They were all holding big knives, cutlass and guns.Everything they were holding was just big and long, this made me conclude that they are not planning to drag me back main building or catch me, they wants to kill me on that spot.

Fred was smirking mischievously as if he was having a thought of “I caught you at last, you’re not gonna escape from this one”. I didn’t even look at his face. I was more concerned with escaping and luckily, they haven’t spotted the rear entrance yet.

They were still staring at me in contempt while awaiting the order of Fred,their boss. They were still staring at me when, like the local version of Barry Allen Flash, I dashed towards the entrance and fled for my life.

They all followed in hot pursuit with screams of surprise and disappointment. They weren’t expecting me to run or make an attempt of escape through that place.

I started running towards the path that led to the abode of the wild animals. “Don’t follow me if you still care for you life”, I screamed at them while still running but none of them answered me. All of them thought I was guffing and they kept on pursuing me.

I purposedly started running towards the path that led to the river and I was silently hoping that I should see the Lion and his whole family at the banks of the river. “They are gonna be of help to me at this moment”, I thought. I was almost close to tears while praying to God to grant me a prayer that can kill or save me.

I was sure the prayer is gonna get me killed because if I meet the Lions there, they are gonna attack and kill me first before they kill others. But I didn’t mind, I kept on praying and running whilst panting, they kept on following me like a dog that was running after a bone.

They kept on shooting and throwing knives randomly at me but non of it got to me. I evaded all their attacks and luckily for me, I got to the river without being harmed. But I got there to meet the shocking sight of my life. There was no Lion or Lions there. The bank of the river was literally empty.

I kept on running till my feet touched the cold waters of the river and they all stopped the moment they got out of the forest too and they were now staring at me from a distance. There was no tree or leaves that could save me.

Although there was a wide distance between us, I could still hear Fred guffawing and pointing his long big cutlass at me.

I was thinking of jumping into river and drowning myself when an unexpected event occured.

Lions started coming out of the forest immediately Fred and his men got out and they attacked all of them. Intense screams overshadowed the guffaws and Fred was the first person that got grabbed.

I laid low into the water immediately the Lions came out and I started thanking God for answering my prayers in a more palatable and suitable manner.

The Lions killed and ate all of them within two hours . The Lions disappeared into the forest some minutes later and I stood up from my hiding place.

My cloth was all wet and soaked by the time I got up. I started running towards the forest immediately.

I started tracing their hideout immediately I got up and I was able to locate it after 40 minutes.

I opened the big door and there was no single guard there. All of them had followed me when I escaped earlier.

The rest of the victims were all surprised when they saw me and they got a bit afraid when they saw the knife I was holding.

They all relaxed when they realized that I was the girl that escaped some few hours ago.

I untied all of them few minutes later and they were all thanking me profusely. They were different types of people there, ranging from old men and women to young men and women.

It was almost daybreak, about 5:30am and we were luckily able to locate the main road after I freed them.

We were walking sluggishly by the roadside when a spotted the headlight of car.

We all screamed in happiness because we were in the middle of no where and seeing a car that could help us is luckiness because we were all exhausted already.

We flagged the car down and luckily for us, it wasn’t a car. It was big bus that could contain all of us.

The bus stopped and picked all of us. The driver was a nice man and we met about five hefty passengers in the bus. We couldn’t even greet them because of our weariness and they understood too.

We all settled down in different parts of the bus and the journey commenced.

We were all still giggling and smiling in happiness when I spotted two men of the passengers we met inside the bus bringing out a long rifle.

“Ohhwww no. Not again Lord”, I whispered in discomfort.
