Episode 15

Some hours later, my leg had been to feel cramped from having stood for a long time, and my arms had become sore due to how tight the ropes were holding me.

I was about to beg Chima to reduce the rightness of the bindings, when I began to hear approaching sirens. At first, I thought I was about to be saved by policemen, but when I observed how calm Chima looked I realized it could only be one person. The Governor had arrived.

Chima brought out a well dusted wooden recliner, and dropped it in front of him. He put his hands behind him, and spread his legs a bit apart in a military poise.

I couldn’t help but laugh at how funny he looked in that poise.

“Gbo, imalokwa ka idi (You don’t know how you look)” I said, laughing loudly.

Chima got angry, and landed another slap on my face.

“If you disgrace me, I’ll make sure to give you and this evil thing growing inside a first class ticket to hell,” He said with his face very close to mine.

The Governor walked in then, closely accompanied by thugs. Chima rushed towards him, and bowed low in greeting.

The Governor completely ignored him, and continued coming towards me. He waved at his thugs, and asked them to stop at a distance.

As he got to me, he smiled sweetly.

“I heard you’ll be bringing my boy to me,” he asked with a smile.

“Not really, I think your boy over there has done most of the job.”

He laughed a long throaty laughter.

“Aren’t you afraid of me?”

“Afraid of you? A woman some hours away from the death of herself and her baby wouldn’t be afraid of anything you know.”

“You’re pregnant?”

“Yes, for Chima”

His face twisted in a frown,

“Who said you’re dying then?”

“The very same man that got me pregnant”

The Governor’s face was now a picture of rage as he turned to Chima.

“Were you planning on killing this beautiful lady here who has your baby in her belly?” He asked angrily.

Chima became white with fear.
