What Goes Around (Complete Story)

Episode 12

“Good day Mr Jason.” Godwin greets as he makes way into Jason’s sitting room.

“Hello officer, any news?”

“Not exactly, I came to inform you that your attention and that of your wife will be needed at the station tomorrow.”

“Talk to me officer, has there been any headway? Have you found out who killed my son”

” Just come over tomorrow with your wife. Time is 12noon. Both of you will need to see things for yourself.”

“Okay sir, we will. Thank you so much. ”

” Please can I have a glass of water?”

“Cold?”

“No, room temperature will do”

” Okay. Just a minute.”

Jason leaves for the kitchen where their refrigerator is kept and returns after some minutes with a bottle of water and an empty glass on a tray.

“Here you go. ”

“Oh thank you.”

Godwin fills the glass a little above mid-point, drinks it and repeats the process.

” I will be on my way now. See you tomorrow”

On his way out, he pauses by the door for a split second and looks over the fence, towards the direction of a five star hotel that shares a boundary with Jason’s house.

Stella has been in their custody for some days now. Ordinarily, if it were a minor case, maybe she would have been granted bail but murder is a capital offence.

It’s past 9am, Tersoo and Godwin are going through files of Jason Jnr’s case. There is this look of accomplishment on their faces. They seem relieved after a lengthy string of sleepless nights and tiring days.

Noon today will kick off an episode that will wrap this case finally.

Dooshima says she will be available before noon, she’s the impatient kind.

Jason and Becky will catch up.

Sewe will be brought in as well.

Stella is already in custody.

Reiterating the events of the past weeks makes them was want to fast forward time and get this done with already.

How could someone be so heartless? To what end? Why kill an innocent baby because of what you think his parents did wrong to you?

These loud thoughts fill the minds of both police men and they don’t hesitate to air them out.

“I will make sure she rots in jail. This is heartless.” Tersoo speaks in fury.

At about fifteen after 10, a car drives to the parking lot, Dooshima and her friend step out and walk inside the station. They speak to a police man at he counter and he goes in to call the inspector. Godwin returns with him instead.

” Welcome madam, you are quite early and will have to wait for the scheduled time. ”

“Thank you so much officer. Is my daughter here yet?”

” Not yet, we are still expecting them.”

“Okay, is there any fast food joint around where we can eat? We were rushing to beat traffic though we still got stock in it”

“Fast food, mmmmm, it’s a restaurant actually. It’s just a street away. The next left turn from this building.”

” Okay, thank you so much. We’ll be back.”

The two friends spend almost an hour after leaving. On their return, Sewe runs to her mum and gives her a bear hug immediately she sees her at the door.

“Mummy I no kill Jnr, mummy believe me.” She breaks down in tears.

“I believe you my dear, I know you didn’t. Stop crying”

She wipes off the stream of tears on her daughter’s cheeks and carries her up.

” Everything will be fine. You will be out of here very soon. I brought food for you. Your favourite as well, chocolate.”

“Thank you mummy.” She ignores the food and collects the chocolate bar.

“Meanwhile, I told you pidgin isn’t good for you. You need to stop speaking it or at least minimize your use of it ”

“Sorry mummy.”

Inspector Tersoo walks in just in time.

” Hello Dooshima, we’ve been waiting for you. You all should come with me please.”

He turns after a few steps and says to one of the police men at the counter.

” You, get me Stella Agape”

He leads them to a spacious interrogation room where Jason and Becky are already waiting.

Coincidentally, both women are putting on same colour of shirts. Dooshima stares at her sister like she wants to yell all over again and bring down the roof on her head. She does it afterwards, though in her mind.

The police man that was at the counter brings Stella in and all of them take their seats except Sewe whose mum carries her on her laps.
